Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: February 24, 2021 Departmental Overview The California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) is a cooperative effort between the state of California, private industry, venture capital, and the University of California campuses at Berkeley, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz. In order to stimulate discovery at the intersection of the physical and biological sciences, QB3 promotes multidisciplinary research at world-class facilities, creates innovative educational programs, and fosters industry partnerships. The Institute's more than 200 researchers decipher the complex systems involved in living systems and discover ground-breaking applications for that basic knowledge in the areas of health, energy, and the environment. The California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) is one of four Governor Gray Davis Institutes for Science and Innovation established in 2000 to ensure the future of the California economy by promoting research and innovation. QB3 harnesses the quantitative sciences of chemistry, physics and engineering to unify our understanding of biological systems at all levels of complexity, from atoms and molecules to cells, tissues, and entire living organisms. QB3 scientists make discoveries that drive the development of technologies, products, and wholly new industries, ensuring that California remains competitive in the 21st century. QB3 at UC Berkeley (QB3-Berkeley) supports research and training in quantitative biosciences with training and outreach, core research facilities, and community events. QB3-Berkeley's administrative home is Stanley Hall. Stanley Hall serves as the Berkeley hub for multidisciplinary research and teaching involving the biological sciences, physical sciences, and engineering. The 285,000 square foot building houses classrooms, auditoriums, faculty research labs, shared facilities, and the Department of Bioengineering, and is located at the East Gate of the UC Berkeley campus next to the Hearst Memorial Mining Building. Salary & Benefits This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $110,800.00 - $146,200.00/annually.
