![]() University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: 33134 Salary: $39.18 hourly Position Description: Under the general supervision of the Field Operations Manager, incumbent is responsible for providing support to properties managed by UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services. The Lead Residential Mechanic will serve as a working lead over Residential Mechanics and Facilities Mechanics and will be responsible for the building maintenance of properties managed by UCLA Housing and Hospitality Services. Assist the manager to oversee the work performance of the staff in regards to customer service, quality of workmanship, and quantity of work performed. As required, prioritize, schedule, and assign work tasks. The Lead Residential Mechanic will diagnose, repair and maintain plumbing, electrical and mechanical components of residential appliances such as dishwashers, refrigeration units, ice machines, stove/ovens, garbage disposals and microwaves, etc. The Residential Mechanic is responsible for installing, adjusting, maintaining and repairing refrigeration systems equipment, instruments and controls and performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks on a regular and continuous basis, including plumbing, mechanical and electrical repairs for other residential equipment, appliances and furnishings. The Residential Mechanic will perform duties using appropriate safe practices, work methods and procedures; write concise, accurate reports; and complete log/records of work or service performed. Duties include frequently loading and unloading and installation of mechanical equipment from ground level and elevated surfaces with or without assistance. The Lead Residential Mechanic will interact with various department contacts and UCLA personnel while performing duties and will be required to maintain a courteous and professional manner at all times. The Lead Residential Mechanic will develop and maintain a Preventative Maintenance program (including general building maintenance PMs i.e. batteries in Smokes, Door Locks, Filters as well as interior plumbing readiness and coordination with the Plumbing Shop jetter crew.), HVAC systems, and plumbing systems, in their area and work with the HVAC Shop to help Maintain systems in working order. Incumbent will need to operate a University Vehicle and travel to various locations for transporting equipment and completing maintenance repairs. Complete other duties as assigned.
