ABOUT THE POSITION: The CSU System is seeking the newest member of the dynamic Spur campus team—the Spur General Manager. The GM will guide the opening of the CSU Spur campus facilities (opening in 2021/22) and manage ongoing campus operations. This position will include managing external partnerships and tenants within the buildings, working closely with IT and other departments, ensuring best-in-class management for sustainability principles including energy and water savings and occupant health, and managing budgets and contracts to keep the Spur facilities running smoothly.
The Spur General Manager position is a unique opportunity to join a team at the beginning of a new campus’s operations, observe final construction phases, and develop short- and long-term facility management protocols with a diverse team of collaborators. The Spur campus has a one-of-a-kind collection of amenities that include multiple types of laboratories, classrooms, a teaching kitchen, a food lab, a greenhouse, student living spaces, a flexible theater and more. This position requires both creativity and attention to detail and is a chance to demonstrate expertise in both.
ABOUT THE CSU SPUR CAMPUS AT THE NATIONAL WESTERN CENTER: The CSU System, along with its partners, will stand up three buildings focused on water, food and agriculture, animal health, and sustainability at Spur at the National Western Center (NWC). Within the Spur buildings, CSU will conduct research and convene experts from around the globe. Spur will facilitate students of all ages engaging with science and technology, and create opportunities for exploratory learning, transforming their thinking about food, water, and health and the careers available in these fields. Partners will participate in programming the space and bring evolving content to the year-round campus, including large events. All three facilities will be LEED Gold, and their operations should showcase the state-of-the-art in sustainability and healthy building operations. Construction on the CSU buildings is underway, with anticipated opening of one building in late 2021 and the other two in 2022.
