Under general supervision, work with Facilities Management employees to maintain, repair, and assure the safe and efficient operation of electrical equipment, fire alarm systems, emergency generators, fire protection systems, and low voltage systems. Install, maintain and repair electrical systems and controls. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs skilled work to install, maintain, repair or adjust all elements and components associated with the distribution and use of electric power on campus.
Works from drawings and specifications.
Prepares reports and maintains records.
Supports third party life safety system testing and contractor work.
Utilizes and updates the university’s computerized maintenance management system.
Performs seasonal inspections.
Removes snow and ice from walks, steps, driveways, etc. and apply salt if necessary in assigned areas.
Drives all vehicles assigned to Motor Pool and Grounds Department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High school or vocational school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Minimum of five years experience in electrical maintenance for large building application in maintenance and operations and/or have the experience of an Electrician Journeyman.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Ability to use tools applicable to the trade, including testing and measuring devices.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions and communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively.
Willingness to adjust work schedule when necessary and as determined by supervisor, including work shift changes.
Ability to physically perform the daily work assignments inherent in this job description, including lifting and manipulating objects weighing up to 70 pounds regularly and the ability to perform work from ladders, scaffolding and elevated surfaces.
