This position is responsible for (a) an developing and documenting a comprehensive technology architecture and roadmap for the Technical Infrastructure Design and Engineering (TIDE) division and (b) assessing and improving strategic information technology systems and platforms across ITG. The incumbent will lead (or co-lead) the Joint Architecture Team with its membership drawn from across TIDE/ITG and participate in various other campus IT governance standing committees and task forces as assigned. The incumbent will incorporate feedback, ideas, and suggestions from the membership of these groups as representative customer input towards selecting appropriate emerging technologies and improving established technologies already in use at OHSU. In conjunction with TIDE staff, other ITG partners, and customers across OHSU and affiliated organizations, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and sharing of architectural reference documentation in areas including, but not limited to, networks, servers, storage, virtualization, remote access, identity and access management, use of cloud and hybrid services, and disaster recovery. The incumbent will work closely with counterparts in the other application and security focused ITG divisions to understand their critical applications and emerging requirements. The position will provide excellent customer service in achieving the following objectives: (1) ensure complex systems evolve to provide support for current users and future requirements, (2) evaluate processes, user requirements, and system functionality to assist in the selection, implementation, and integration of complex systems, and (3) develop information technology solutions that meet OHSUs strategic and financial goals and provide for optimized operational processes. Particular focus will be on all forms of virtualization, integrated server/storage/backup solutions, process automation, and systems monitoring and reporting. These objectives will be driven by the overarching goals to improve services and to meet customer requirements while minimizing consumption of operational resources, achieving robust security, meeting all data privacy and other compliance requirements, and providing for resilient operation in the face of significant business disruption, including a regional disaster or emergency. The incumbent will work collaborativelywith TIDE customers both outside and within ITG to characterize succinct business use cases and then with TIDE managers to craft innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective technical solutions tied to a clearly defined architecture. Through interactions with vendors and technology groups and self-driven outside reading and research, the incumbent will keep abreast of relevant information technology and vendor trends as well as emerging standards, products, and services, including third party hosted infrastructure and applications (i.e., cloud computing). This position will collaborate closely with the technical staff of the Advanced Computing Center (ACC) (a) to insure the transfer of maturing technologies initially proven in the research environment into the higher-availability production environment and (b) to share best practices between ACC and the rest of TIDE. As part of the annual OHSU capital budgeting process, the incumbent will work closely with business analysts and project managers to assess potential TIDE capital projects from an architectural, fiscal and operational efficiency standpoint.
