High School graduate or G.E.D. Prefer technical/vocational training related to job duties. Must have four years of mechanical systems experience, experience in H.V.A.C. is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
To provide skilled work on plant mechanical equipment and is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of Plant Mechanical Equipment, and performs all P.M. schedules on equipment.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
To maintain, operate, repair, and replace mechanical equipment such as but not necessarily limited to the following duties. Repairs and/or replace motors, pumps, pulleys, couplings, and equipment. Responsible for maintenance on bearings, shafts, AHU's, brackets and belts. Repair, replace, and clean air condition coils units. Inspects and trouble shoots various mechanical units, such as chillers, boilers, etc. Flushes and acid treats coils on large a/c units. Lubricates and inspects wear of various units or equipment. Replace and/or repair exhaust fan motors and blades. Performs cooling tower repairs. May assist Water Treatment Technician. Cleans boilers and tower units. Changes oil in air condition units and cooling towers, a repacks pumps. Will be required to be on call 24 hours a day seven days a week on a rotational basis as needed by department. Performs other related duties as assigned.
