Maintenance Supervisor
Valdosta-Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority
Under limited supervision, plans, organizes and directs the maintenance of facilities, grounds, vehicles and equipment, and the upkeep of all recreation properties. Work involves prioritizing and scheduling work orders, serving as a safety committee member; executing safety observations with continual improvement procedures; maintaining parks and facilities maintenance such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and welding. In addition, the maintenance supervisor is responsible for the scheduling and overseeing of preventative maintenance programs. Performs related supervisory and technical work as required. Reports to the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority Executive Director.

Serves as active member of the safety committee. Responds to safety work orders and calls. Receives, analyzes, prioritizes, and schedules work orders. Manages direction of job assignments and established standards. Performs general and preventative maintenance on air conditioning, heating, and pumps. Executes monthly safety inspection on emergency lights and exit lights; conducts facility safety audits. Maintains and repairs plumbing and electrical for facilities and parks. Coordinates and performs Parks Department with painting projects for parks and facilities. Assists Parks Department with irrigation projects and problems. Locates, purchases, and delivers parts and materials for work orders. Requests and receives quotes for outside contractors; oversees contractors. Operates a variety of equipment, machinery and tools used in department projects and activities, which may include backhoe, tractors and associated attachments, power tools, and various grounds keeping equipment. Works with cement forms, sheet rock, and masonry. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as safety related work orders and routine work orders, verbal requests, electrical mail memorandums and work orders, telephone work requests, and outside contractor calls. Refers to National electrical code, life safety code, policy and procedure manuals, safety manual, equipment manuals, codes and regulations, technical drawings, etc. Uses a variety of tools such as electric drill, skill saw, levels, framing square, socket set, wrench set, screwdrivers, flash light, tape measure, standard office tools, etc.; a variety of supplies such as filters, light ballast, light sockets, wire nuts, Teflon tape, urinal and toilet rebuild kits, general office supplies, etc.; and a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Word, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Safety and Special Projects Manager, Executive Director and the general public. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as safety related work orders and routine work orders, verbal requests, electrical mail memorandums and work orders, telephone work requests, and outside contractor calls. Prepares and/or processes a variety of documentation such as goals for safety committee, safety committee mission statements, risk assessment, facility audits, and completed work orders.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCERequires knowledge of facility maintenance and repair to include HVAC, welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other maintenance related skills, including knowledge of OSHA. Degrees, diplomas, and/or certificates are preferred in any/all areas of the above skills but proven experience can stand in for education.
