To obtain, maintain and dispense instructional materials and equipment for departmental teaching laboratories, to uphold a safe lab environment, and to assist others in the utilization and understanding of the materials and equipment.
Assemble materials for use in classroom laboratory sections
Order and purchase laboratory materials from suppliers or local stores
Reconcile monthly purchasing card statement
Issue and dispense materials and equipment used in the laboratory sections
Instruct Teaching Assistants in the use of laboratory equipment
Advise and assist Teaching Assistants with technical problems in the laboratories
Handle minor equipment repairs, or coordinate repairs with service technicians
Notify facilities services of problems in the laboratories needing repair, i.e. plumbing, electrical and structural, and follow up to ensure work is completed
Manage teaching laboratory hazardous waste collection and disposal
Collect and maintain live materials for laboratory experiments
May serve on Departmental committees
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate life/natural science field is required, along with at least two years of laboratory experience.
