Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Property Operations Assistant (POA), performs a variety of administrative and physical tasks for the Harvard Law School Facilities Office with a customer service oriented mindset. This role works closely with Facilities Managers to effectively communicate and resolve building issues. They are responsible for daily maintenance and performing related facility services, including the identification of long range maintenance and improvement needs for all Harvard Law School buildings. These span 23 buildings comprising of 1.3 million square feet of facilities space across the HLS community.
As a Property Operations Assistant you will:
Coordinate and assist in the execution of various contracted services (HVAC maintenance, cleaners, etc.); may oversee work of outside vendors.
Move, assemble, and maintain furniture in both internal and public facing spaces; hang pictures, bulletin boards, dry erase boards and other wall-mounted office equipment as directed.
Complete and follow up with work orders for routine issues. Check to ensure satisfactory completion.
Identify and complete minor carpentry repairs, recommend more extensive repair plan of action to Supervisor.
Inspect buildings routinely for safety hazards; cleanliness quality and lighting.
Assist with mail distribution during peak times as needed.
Carefully remove and archive valuable materials; take inventory and organize all building plans, furniture, moving supplies, storage items and associated materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent or technical certification or a minimum of 2+ years relevant work experience in facilities.
We are looking for people who have:
Effective verbal and written communications skills. Basic to intermediate carpentry skills, proficiency in using and safely operating common hand tools associated with above mentioned work.
Additional training or mechanical skills and work experience in general building maintenance, helpful.
A commitment to flexibility and customer service.
A high degree of professionalism, the ability to work independently and effectively with others/team player
Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
Organization and the ability to prioritize.
Basic skills and comfort with desktop computers, required (email, work order entry/close out, etc.).
