The College Facility Operations Leader works closely with College administrators to provide the leadership and expertise to direct, coordinate, and administer the College's facilities and the housing of its attendant technology, encompassing classrooms, research centers, scientific and computer labs, and professional offices. In addition, the Director helps to plan and manage the construction or renovation of facilities that will help the College maintain its leading edge in the 21st century. In particular, the College Facility Operations Leader is directly involved with the planning and oversight of lab renovation for new and existing faculty that takes place on a regular basis. Beyond lab renovations, the College Facility Operations Leader must assist in the planning and oversight of major construction projects.
The Director provides the highest level of operational leadership and coordination, with both direct and dotted line supervisory responsibilities. Manages high level assignments and allocation of engineering resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involves staff in other departments, areas, and teams. May coordinate large scale facilities operations projects with a wide audience. Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives. Manages project timelines and deliverables, and develops resource plans for multi-project / multi-phase facility operations initiatives.
The College Facility Operations Leader leads the process of planning and executing the construction/renovation, maintenance, and allocation of administrative, classroom, and research space. The Director works closely with College Deans and other College and University administrative leaders to coordinate long-range strategic planning as well as to resolve all College space issues on a daily basis. Acts as a liaison with the IU Architect's Office, IU Building Services, IU Capital Planning, the Physical Plant, the Office of Space Planning, Facilities Operations, and the Teaching and Learning Spaces Committee, among other offices. The Director of Facilities represents the faculty in space determinations for departments and individuals.
Bachelor's degree in business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, or a related field and four years of experience in business, inventory management, controls, facilities management, or a related field, and one year of management experience in a related field.

Master's degree. Five years of progressive management in capital construction, facilities management and classroom technology. Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to enable the College to construct and allocate space to meet its teaching and research missions. Excellent communications skills to liaise collaboratively and diplomatically within a diverse College environment. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in analyzing, managing and developing complex budgets. Knowledge of all facilities-related university, state and federal regulations. Ability to read and understand detailed blueprints, equipment diagrams, wiring schematics and a general knowledge of plumbing, heating and cooling, structural design and related fields.
