The Chisholm-Hibbing Airport Authority, Range Regional Airport (HIB), is accepting applications for a full time Airport Maintenance 3 position. Individual would work directly under the Airport Manager. Position demands a high level of professionalism and involves multiple duties, including, but not limited to, facility and airfield inspections and maintenance repairs, operating light to heavy duty equipment, assists with equipment inspections and repairs, airfield snow removal, issues field condition reports and Notices to Airmen (NOTAM), airfield grounds maintenance, wildlife control procedures, janitorial, organizing, inventorying, airport supplies, interacting with airport stakeholders, tenants, and cooperative agencies, responding to as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF), participating in department educational and training programs, assists with public air charter flight operations. Work hours shall be 40 hours per week, however, position requires on-call every other week, ability to work overtime, and reside within 30 minutes of the airport.
High School diploma with three (3) years of specialized training through trade or technical school related to building and facility maintenance.
Must reside within 30 minutes of airport
Must be able to be on-call every other week, ability to work weekends and holidays, ability to work as early as 4 AM and/or evenings
Must successfully pass a TSA criminal background check
Must participate in FAA drug and alcohol program
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Must have valid MN drivers license within 30 days of employment
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended amounts of time
Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Lifting requirements require frequent lifting in excess of 100 lbs. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts
Occasionally exposed to wet, cold, snow, and/or humid conditions
Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exist
Mental application utilizes memory for detail, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving
Limited travel required in normal course of job performance
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, maintain safety and risk management standards; maintain effective preventative maintenance programs, keep operating records and prepare reports: read and understand blueprints; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public; communicate effectively verbally and in writing in the English language.
Ability to perform a variety of skilled duties to the maintenance and repair of airport buildings and facilities; performs general maintenance on various types of building components and apparatus, i.e., motors, pumps, valves, bearings, floats, pulleys, belts, switches, relays, plugs, light ballasts, light photo cells, fuses, circuit breakers, timers, transformers, wiring, telephones, fire sensors, door hardware, roofing, floor and ceiling repair, dry wall, painting, and caulking.
Ability to perform preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment; maintains air conditioning system; boilers, domestic hot water systems, pumps, electrical systems, pneumatic controls, electrical and electronic controls, etc.; assist in preventative maintenance program development
Ability to monitor status of buildings and facilities regarding safety standards; makes recommendations related to the replacement or upgrading of facilities to comply with established safety codes and regulations; may assist with routine HVAC, plumbing, and locksmith duties
Ability to prepare inspection reports and summaries as required by the FAA, Department of Homeland Security (DHS-TSA), MN/DOT Office of Aeronautics, and Airport Manager
Ability to maintain the airport to ensure compliance with FAA, MN/DOT Office of Aeronautics, County and City.
Ability to complete initial and recurrent Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) certification
Ability to perform and engage ARFF as emergency situations dictate. Fire rescue services may include, but is not limited to: rescue and firefighting personnel safety, emergency communications; use of fire hoses, nozzles, turrets, pumps, hydrants, extinguishers, ladders, hand tools, extrication tools, firefighting equipment, extinguishing agents; the use and wearing of breathing apparatus (SCBA), emergency aircraft evacuation assistance; and firefighting operations
Must maintain grooming standards that allow them to properly wear their personal protective SCBA.
The Range Regional Airport (HIB), operated by the Chisholm-Hibbing Airport Authority, is located in the north east Minnesota. HIB is a Part 139 primary, non-hub, non-towered airport with daily jet service to MSP, seasonal Sun Country charters to Laughlin, NV (IFP), and an active general and business aviation community. The Airport Authority also operates the Hibbing Fueling Facility (FBO).
