Assists the Director of Facilities Management in facility operations. This includes coordinating the delivery of essential facility maintenance services, recommending priorities for needed repairs and upgrades, and assisting in developing and planning for deferred and preventive maintenance programs. Provides personnel management, oversight and leadership for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) trades and General Maintenance and Carpentry. Ensure productive and efficient use of resources for the timely response and feedback to customer requests. In the absence of the Director of Facilities Management, the Associate Director assumes full responsibility for the operations of the department. This position is classified as essential. Manage and evaluate employee performance including employment, promotions, and other personnel actions such as hiring, discipline within the University guidelines, policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge of occupational health and safety, security, and workplace standards. Provide employee training and development programs, and ensure OSHA training is completed. Provide short and long term resource planning to include personnel, budget and capital resources. Assist in the development and enforcement of departmental guidelines. Research and recommend systems that would benefit the University.
