This position will support and maintain the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as perform general equipment maintenance and repair in buildings located campus-wide. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Perform work at a 'master' level regarding the maintenance/repair of commercial kitchen equipment.
Overhaul small reciprocal compressors, larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors independently.
Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.
Possess and apply strong working knowledge of commercial refrigeration.
Record refrigerant usage used for EPA and NC reporting documentation.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Managing work requests using a tablet and PC device.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Universal EPA/608 certification.
Associates degree in HVAC.
Three years' maintenance experience to include repairing commercial cooking or refrigeration equipment.
Experience using electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.
Experience overhauling small reciprocal compressors, larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors.
Possess strong working knowledge of commercial refrigeration.
Possess working knowledge of commercial food service.
Experience diagnosing mechanical problems and reading schematics to troubleshoot.
Experience performing preventive maintenance on required equipment.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly.
Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms.
Good driving record.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required.
Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communications.
Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome and Microsoft Word, and willingness to learn new programs.
