Summary of Duties: This position manages and directs the day-to-day operations of farm services for the Animal Sciences Department. This includes supervising, directing and assigning work of employees in: field operations; equipment and vehicle maintenance; building/facility repairs, maintenance and fabrication; animal waste cleaning and management. In addition to directing farm services operations, this position manages and maintains fiscal accountability for proper allocation and use of resources in supporting the overall research, teaching and extension mission. Incumbent responsible for developing and administering budgets, records operations. This position will have significant input on large and strategic prioritization of funding expenditures for capital improvements, and must also provide short, medium, and long-term fiscal plans.
Positions require a Bachelor's degree in related field and three (3) years of experience in managing an agricultural/industrial facility which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Positions require a valid driver's license. May be required to obtain and maintain position specific licenses/registrations.
Must have, or able to obtain, a CDL by time of hire.
Farm skills and management experience including maintenance and repair of building/facilities, vehicle and equipment, and grounds.
Knowledge of basic skills associated with performing animal, plant, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and motorized equipment repair work.
Skills in safe and proper operation of farm equipment
