General Description:
The Lead Building Engineer (LBE) Electrician takes a leadership role in providing building maintenance and preventative maintenance for electrical services across the Illinois Tech Mies campus to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for students, staff, faculty, and tenants. Monitors, operates, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment and electrical systems and others, including, but not limited to, heating, ventilation, cooling, mechanical, plumbing, infrastructure, including snow removal.
Works under direct supervision of the Facilities Area Manager (FAM); in the absence or at the direction of the FAM, makes independent decisions concerning electrical maintenance and preventative maintenance. Provides leadership to designated Facilities staff including Building Engineers, Maintenance Mechanics, Grounds Workers, and Trainees as required to ensure effective day-to-day operations of the building and all electrical systems maintenance and preventative maintenance. The LBE is responsible for enhancing the productivity of the department and taking a role in remedial action as needed within the maintenance team. Demonstrates leadership by performing all duties in compliance with established IIT safety requirements; work order procedures; and procurement, vendor, supplier, and purchasing requirements.

Education & Experience:
1. High School diploma or
GED, required.
2. Associate's Degree or Stationary Engineer Certificate; preferred.
3. Completion of an approved joint electrician apprenticeship and training program; or other qualified program; required.
4. 3 years of experience working with medium voltage electrical systems and infrastructure; preferred
5. Experience as a crew lead/foreman; required.
6. 6 years of progressively responsible
