As a new member of CBRE's growing manufacturing engineering team, you will support our confidential technology client through the facilitation of manufacturing readiness and ramp-up for our client's multiple mechanical & electrical system suppliers ("integrators").
To be successful, you will have extensive demonstrated success in optimizing manufacturing processes, launching new "building infrastructure-related" products through operations, implementing lean fundamentals in low-volume environments, and driving manufacturability enhancements back into design. A strong process improvement background will serve you well, especially it much of your time has been spent on the factory floor. You will have the ability to quickly build influential relationships with key leaders, at both the client and supplier/integrator, and will have the ability to leverage the latter to ultimately achieve business results.
Ideally, you will have industry experience involving large scale HVAC and cooling systems, and/or industrial power and campus scale electrical distribution systems. You may also have exposure to construction project methodologies and management, and/or have demonstrated success in large scale project management.
Above all, you will drive for results with a focused, yet humble approach and value collaboration over independent decision-making. You will be a self-starter, well-organized, and detail oriented, yet have the ability to respond appropriately to rapidly changing priorities and directions.
This role needs to be based in the metro area specified, and your time will be split between working from home and at integrator sites. Expect that travel outside of your metro area may also be required to additional integrator and/or client sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate integrator production maturity in the areas of processes, production line layout, human work factors, quality systems, materials management processes, production control methods, and capabilities of facility resources. Partner with integrator as a shared resource to adequately close gaps from initial evaluation to arrive at production readiness for pilot/FOAK (First of a Kind) builds. Continue to drive improvements to factory readiness, supporting early production ramps, and engage with integrators to provide feedback on DFx and yield opportunities. Support and own DVT/PVT deliverables (Design/Production Validation Testing), and coordinate with the client commissioning teams to establish test requirements. Engage with the client's product development and quality teams to establish parameters for early field failure analysis. Collaborate with the client PLM team in the creation of NPI BOMs. Support second source manufacturing assessment and qualification.
With minimal direction, must have the ability to:
Establish oneself as a shared resource to the client and integrator to drive manufacturing readiness for pilot and/or FOAK (First of a Kind) production runs
Determine and own pilot milestone "Go/No-Go" criteria and process KPI's to evaluate pilot/FOAK success and full production readiness
Lead creation and execution of PVT (Production Validation Testing) for pilot/FOAK, in partnership with the integrator
Hold integrator accountable to satisfying readiness deliverables per project schedule and at expected quality
Assess integrator's production capacity and required resources to meet client demand
Employ lean fundamentals in long lead time, low volume environments to optimize flow and first-time quality
Identify process and supply chain bottlenecks and/or single points of failure
Review design documentation to assess manufacturability
Engage with PLM team in creation of NPI BOMs
Quickly identify process and lead time improvements that can be realized through design changes and enhancements
Be flexible in serving needs of the client as primary contact for the project team at the integrator's site
Partner effectively, and with humility, as a team member of the client's full Manufacturing Engineering team, which contributes within the complete product development life cycle
Serve as key team member in the manufacturing assessment and qualification of additional suppliers/integrators.
