Position will be the main academic facilities operations liaison with the University's Operations Management Department. Position has responsibility for requesting and assisting with requests for service, maintenance, and repair activities for over 40 academic buildings. Position provides skills, knowledge, and expertise to identify and communicate service needs and will provide consultation on facility concerns to academic stakeholders and facilitate prompt, targeted remediation via the University's Facilities Management Division. Position will develop and maintain collaborative work relationships with both academic stakeholders and Facilities Management personnel. At times position may need to conduct information research and analysis for specialized facility areas such as research labs, critical facilities including but not limited to the Vivarium, the Clean Room, and the Center for Precision Metrology, as well as lab equipment maintenance and repair. The primary areas of responsibility are: Meeting with academic stakeholders to review repair needs, communicating and serving as facilities contact for repairs and maintenance with the University's Maintenance Operations Department, routine building visits to identify repair and maintenance needs, compiling and maintaining a prioritized facility deficiency list for all academic buildings, and collaborating with academic facility stakeholders and the Director of Academic and Research space to comprise efficient and effective ways to service and maintain academic space and specialized equipment.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Prior experience working in academic facility maintenance or operations at institutions of higher education, including but not limited to community colleges and private or public universities.
Experience developing and implementing successful maintenance and operation plans or strategies at other institutions.
Three to five years of experience in unskilled and skilled trades including but not limited to painting, carpentry, interior finishes, masonry, roofing, proper building envelope assemblies, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service and work collaboratively with people and teams from various departments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and familiarity with industry jargon.
Ability to work independently and provide prompt follow up.
