Low Voltage ElectricianThe Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) is the shared services organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges located in Southern California. Purpose of Position: Under general supervision, the Electrician installs, maintains, and services low-voltage electrical systems at 120 volts and below by repairing, inspecting, testing, and installing fire alarms, intrusion alarms, card access systems, HVAC controls, telecom, and other electronic systems.
Essential Functions:The following are the essential duties and responsibilities the incumbent must be able to perform.
Troubleshoot electrical problems by various industry standard procedures and test instruments associated with procedures such as multimeters, db meters, computers, programmers, etc. Troubleshoot and repair associated circuits and electronic components as applicable.
Testing all low voltage circuits and components associated with equipment 120 VAC and below. Install various systems encountered in the workplace, all according to the latest edition of NEC, NFPA, and other industry standards. Read, follow, and logically apply information from schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, instruction manuals, operator guides, etc. Bend conduits and install metal raceway systems and non-metallic raceway systems. Interface new technology into existing systems. Maintain as-built drawings, shop orders, submittals, and all associated paperwork to accomplish assigned tasks in a professional and efficient manner. Train other personnel in the skills of the trade. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Work Hours: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work holiday, weekend, and/or evening hours. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the organization or business unit.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications: The following qualifications are required to perform the essential functions of this position, or the individual must be able to demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed (with or without reasonable accommodation) using other qualifications not listed below.
Education: High school diploma or the equivalent in education, training, and experience.
Experience: At least five years of experience demonstrating the ability to apply the techniques of the trade.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Fluent language skills in English, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend. Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, determine linear measurements, compute areas and volumes of conventional shapes and forms, and compute the approximate weight of objects.
Ability to climb ladders, crawl in attics and under buildings, lift and carry heavy equipment, bend, stoop, work from heights, and work in uncomfortable positions.
Ability to work under all weather conditions. Be able to be contacted by telephone during non-working hours.
Be available for overtime work and to be on-call. Be able to wear protective clothing and equipment as required by the tasks being performed.
Be able to work in a safe manner, follow proper procedures, and comply with Cal/OSHA and OSHA requirements as applicable to work.
Effective and professional communication skills with a diverse population of employees, TCCS leadership, vendors, and contracted personnel.
Present a neat and professional appearance and be capable of performing all tasks and presenting oneself in a manner that reflects favorably on CFS and TCCS, and of promoting the interests of these organizations throughout The Claremont Colleges and TCCS.
Must provide evidence of complete COVID-19 vaccination within 30 calendar days of hire, unless a medical or religious accommodation or exemption is requested and granted.

NICET Level II Certification. Factory Certification A valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to TCC's automobile liability insurance provider.
