Department Summary & Job Purpose: The Facilities Management Planning & Construction group supports the administration, faculty, staff and students in the quality planning and development of facilities projects that support our mission. Our talented staff work in various crafts including, cleaning (night and day custodial, housekeeping), building trades (painting, carpentry, locksmith, electrical, HVAC, plumbing), as well as, on the grounds, and in the stockroom. Our office handles over 18,000 telephone calls per year and we respond to over 12,000 service requests. We are responsible for maintaining 300 acres and more than 2,000,000 square feet of property in 100+ buildings.
Mount Holyoke College has a full-time, 40 hour-per-week housekeeper position open. This position is fully benefited. Applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule. Shift is typically 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and may include one weekend day. Occasional evening, holiday and overtime assignments may be required. Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: - General cleaning tasks at campus buildings
- Sweeping, vacuuming and washing floors
- Emptying waste receptacles
- Cleaning and disinfecting bathroom toilets, showers, countertops, mirrors, sinks and high touch surfaces
- Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures
- Communicate building and safety concerns, report need for repair or services
- Additional duties related to Commencement, Reunion, Events and Summer Conferences as assigned

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted, good motor skills, the ability to exert force to move objects, perform repetitive motion tasks, bending/crouching, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to safely access campus buildings, climb stairs and step ladders, manipulate tools, machinery and equipment, perform manual tasks, and traverse the campus unassisted. Working Conditions: Work conditions can vary significantly. Position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, crouching, kneeling, stooping, twisting and bending. May have contact with wet or slippery conditions as well as weather related to extreme temperatures. May have contact with chemicals, fumes, and temporary loud conditions. |
