SUPERVISOR, REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE 2ND SHIFT , Facilities-Campus Services and Maintenance-Repair and Maintenance (R&M) , to provide supervision, resources, and direction for the R&M 2nd shift team in producing high-level technical services, customer service, and maintenance of all building systems, including emergency response to the MIT community. Will act as the point person for all mechanical, electrical, piping, and structural system issues across campus. Repair and Maintenance is currently responsible for 181 buildings within the campus portfolio consisting of approximately 13.5m GSF.
REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years' related experience in building operations, repair and maintenance, and/or facilities management; supervisory experience in a repair and maintenance setting; strong background overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing fields; familiarity with underground utility systems and ability to understand and respond to emergencies related to these utilities; experience with work order tracking systems and other computer applications such as email, word processing, and internet access; ability to manage work order backlogs and demonstrate sound judgment when prioritizing daily work; proficiency with job planning and execution; and excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills. Working Conditions: ascending/descending stairs; traversing the campus; moving about the job site and machinery to access equipment; remaining stationary for extended periods; working from ladders, scaffolds, and other above-ground locations such as roofs; wearing personal protective equipment as required by the specific assignment; and exposure to dust, odors, fumes, high levels of noise, and temperature extremes. Work will be performed near steam and moving machinery, in tight areas and confined spaces such as manholes and crawl spaces, and with and around chemicals and solvents. Some work may be performed in research labs and animal facilities and outdoors in inclement weather.
The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 3:00 to 11:00 P.M. Will provide weekend supervisory coverage on a rotating basis.
