JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Director of Operations this position will supervise the activities of a skilled work force including in-house and contract labor in the operation of the high pressure boiler plants and large centrifugal chillers, advises Mechanical Services Administration concerning budget, equipment acquisition and performance, and failure analyses based on sound technical skill and empirical data. This position also assumes responsibility for personnel actions including employment, performance evaluations, training, discipline, promotions, demotions, and transfers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, schedules, and reviews the activities of the HVAC department.
Supervises contract work force in the effort to maintain the campus mechanical systems and equipment.
Sorts and determines the responsibilities of the work orders received through Archibus on a daily basis.
Monitor and maintain all DDC control systems associated with the power plants.
Determines the components necessary to provide functional systems involving ordering materials for projects and work orders.
Assumes responsibility for personnel actions including employment, performance evaluations, training, discipline, promotions, demotions, and transfers.
Inspects the campus facilities and advises Plant Engineering administration regarding specific needs of the Physical Plant.
Reviews construction documents prepared by Facilities Planning and outside architects
Monitors Archibus tickets, ensuring work orders are closed out.
Verifies time sheets. Keeps electronic files.
Coordinates with the Business office concerning contracts and services.
Ensures the university is in compliance with regulator regulations and inspections.
