JOB DESCRIPTION
USC Athletics is looking to hire a Director of Facilities to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. Â This role will manage the daily operations, repair and maintenance, and improvement projects for the Galen Center. Working as part of a collaborative team this position is responsible for ensuring the facility meets high standards for efficient operation, safety, maintenance, cleanliness, security, customer service, and event execution. The Facility Manager supervises and coordinates the workflow of assigned personnel and contract labor.
Reporting directly to the General Manager of the Galen Center, the Director of Facilities will work in collaboration with Athletics coaches, and support staff to identify facility needs The ideal candidate will have successful experience working in a team environment and the ability to promote a team atmosphere with all employees as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively prioritize and manage changing demands. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education is preferred along with an understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes.

This is an exempt position with work expected on weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.
Roles and responsibilities to include:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Galen Center; safety, security, scheduling, setups, cleanliness, equipment operation, and waste management
- Oversee comprehensive repair and maintenance program to include work order management system, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance programs
- Day-to-day supervision of the management services agreement
- Provides event support and troubleshooting during scheduled events, including sports equipment, scoreboards/videoboards, lighting, plumbing, electrical, concessions equipment, competition surfaces, custodial, HVAC, A/V equipment, and broadcast TV networks
- Organize and lead regular meetings to communicate plans and expectations
- Monitors productivity and assures adequate and efficient staffing levels for daily and event operations
- Provides outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers through clear communication, responsiveness, and innovative problem solving
- Plans and directs facility setups, conversions, and HVAC schedules for daily and event use
- Routinely inspects the facility and equipment to ensure standards are being met and suggests necessary changes in maintenance programs if needed
- Works closely with the General Manager, coaches, and support staff to identify facility needs, diagnose problems, determine projects and implement corrective measures
- Manages facility-related expenditures, closely monitors budgets, and identifies cost-saving measures or opportunities for improvement
- Oversees custodial services to include performance, schedule, and event cleanups
- Coordinates with USC FPM, Aramark, contractors, and vendors to complete routine preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and improvement projects
- Keeps accurate and complete records of inventory, maintenance, and operational procedures
- Assures safety is always a priority and complies with USC EH&S and USC Fire-EMS programs
- Assures compliance with USC purchasing protocols, ADA codes, NCAA and PAC12 rules
- Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold the principles of the USC Code of Ethics.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the General Manager of the Galen Center. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelorâs Degree. Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
- 5 years working in Facility Operations ( minimum required: 3 years)
- Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships by utilizing outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage changing demands.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and experience using sound judgment in situations requiring independent initiative and tact.
- Must be able to overcome obstacles independently, comfortable making decisions, and take full ownership of responsibilities.
- Ability to demonstrate the highest level of integrity and ethical standards
- Ability to work nights, evenings, and weekends.
- Experience working in higher education and/or a sports-related field ideal.
