The Town of Mammoth Lakes is looking for a dedicated and experienced Recreation Supervisor to join our growing Parks & Recreation Department, with a primary focus on delivering year-round programming and supervision of operations at the new Community Recreation Center (CRC).

Responsibilities include the programming and operations of the Mammoth Ice Rink in winter (Oct. - April) and the Mammoth RecZone in summer (May - Sept.). Responsibilities include: program development, implementation and evaluation, supervision of facility staff, customer service, and the health and safety of employees and guests. Responsibilities also include coordination with other Town departments and partner/contracted entities; provision of staff assistance and technical expertise to the Recreation Manager; and coordination with the Parks Maintenance Department to ensure timely repairs and ongoing preventative maintenance.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Mammoth Ice Rink: Deliver scalable and sustainable, recreation winter programming for youth and adults. Includes, but not limited to ice skating, hockey, curling, figure skating, skating lessons, community events, leagues, and tournaments and other programs.
• Mammoth RecZone: Deliver scalable and sustainable, recreation summer programming for youth and adults. Includes, but not limited to court sports such as basketball, futsal, pickleball, badminton, volleyball, dodgeball, arena soccer, and other programs, leagues, tournaments, and community events.
• Coordinate with the Recreation Programming Supervisor on the delivery of Parks and Recreation Summer Camps and associated programs in the Community Recreation Center.
• Direct and coordinate winter ‘ice’ operations, such as chiller and HVAC operations, ice maintenance, snow removal around guest entrances/exits, custodial services, and other equipment or amenities used to program the facility.
• Direct and coordinate summer ‘court’ operations, such as the use and maintenance of the sport court surface, sports equipment, custodial services, and other equipment or amenities used to program the facility.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in recreation administration, business, public administration, child development and behavior, or related field is preferred. Experience could be substituted for education.

Experience: 3 years of increasingly responsible professional experience programming and operating indoor recreation facilities. Experience operating ice rinks is preferred.

Licenses: Possession of, or ability to obtain within the state required timeframe, a valid State of California Class C driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and must pass an appropriate background check prior to the hire date.
