Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Job Summary: The Assistant Field Coordinator will assist with management of field operations as the owner's representative on multiple projects of various size, complexity and duration. Assist in monitoring inspections, quality, and schedule to ensure a successful completion. Construction Administration emergency operations support as directed by Incident Command and support UA events as directed.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree one (1) year of experience in construction, engineering, or project management; OR High School Diploma and five (5) years of experience in construction, engineering, or project management.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge: Must have a willingness to learn the construction industry and develop personal skills for dealing with all the varied companies and individuals encountered. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language. Must have an understanding of project plans, specifications and other documents. Must be proficient with personal computers to include word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications.

Preferred Qualifications: 1 - 3 years commercial construction experience. 1 - 3 years of experience working in a college campus environment. Experience in performing inspection of mechanical, plumbing and/or electrical systems is preferred and will be an extensive part of the work. Any experience working in an institutional environment with multiple projects with various systems. Some knowledge of commercial construction including codes and standards and means and methods.

Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
