Facilities Management is seeking a Pipefitter. Under general supervision, this position applies knowledge and skill at the journey level to install and repair piping, fixtures, appliances and appurtenances related to steam, water and drainage systems, and performs other duties related to incidental thereto.
Duties to Include:
Installs and repairs sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters and softeners and garbage disposals, install and repair radiators, convectors, traps, valves, pumps, and related piping and equipment
Installs and maintains water and steam distribution piping and control equipment, installs and maintains sanitary and storm sewer systems
Installs heating and cooling coils and traps
Position Location: Iowa City, Iowa
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, overtime as required
About Facilities Management:
Facilities Management (FM) is a service unit of approximately 500 employees who work behind the scenes, 24 hours a day, serving the University of Iowa as stewards for our downtown Iowa City campus and Oakdale campus in Coralville. FM staff coordinate campus master planning, manage design and construction, and maintain and clean the buildings and grounds.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Four years of experience in the trade, including apprenticeship.
Valid driver's license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Experience performing preventative and predictive maintenance of building systems equipment
Ability to use equipment and tools effectively to perform essential job functions
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Demonstrate basic computer skills.
Ability to work with and around a diverse culture.
Ability to move for extended periods of time.
Good customer interaction skills.
Ability to work in a team setting.
