Senior position in the Office of Physical Resources and Planning (OPRP). Reports to Associate Dean and is a member of the Sr. Leadership Team in the department. This position works with the Faculty of Arts & Sciences (FAS) Dean, FAS Dean of Administration & Finance, OPRP Associate Dean on FAS campus-wide capital project planning and related activities. This position is responsible for the management of the FAS capital construction program of approximately $240 million. The FAS buildings portfolio totals over 10 million square feet of space and over 260 buildings. The capital program consists of projects across the portfolio and includes construction of new academic buildings, major laboratory renovations, replacement of building-wide infrastructure, including HVAC and electrical systems, gut renovations and expansions/additions to athletic facilities, life safety upgrades, undergraduate housing renovations, libraries, faculty appointment projects, program, and department initiatives and other capital renewal projects.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Highly skilled in written and verbal communications and able to work well with University clients at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and supervise staff in the delivery of a complex capital program. Experience in higher education capital project development processes preferred.
Working knowledge of architectural principles as they related to campus planning, design, construction, and operations.
Broad technical knowledge of construction and building systems (structural, life safety, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc.). Ability to read and correctly interpret construction documents and blueprints, geotechnical reports, and real estate/building-related legal documents.
Working knowledge of principles of sustainable design and development as they related to campus planning, design, construction, and operations.
Presentation skills required for small and large groups. Demonstrated ability to effectively convey architectural and construction concepts in written and graphic formats, and in oral presentations to faculty, executives, administrators, students, and the public. Ability to facilitate meetings.
