Position provides sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair, tasks in one or more craft areas. Responsible for make ready duties in apartments & residence halls, maintenance and repair work of painting, carpentry (countertops, doors, framing, drywall), furniture & equipment moving, light plumbing, basic appliance repair/installation, and light electrical. Position requires the ability to work effectively with others and in a team environment as well as independently when needed.
Essential Duties:
Performs multi-family housing & make ready duties including (sheet rock replacement and repair, plumbing, painting, appliance repair (removal and install), light carpentry, cabinetry, ceramic tile repair, counter tops, flooring repair including (vinyl tile & plank), wall texture, door & hardware (installation and repair). Assists journeyman & carpenters in major repair, maintenance, or construction projects. Provides quality customer service and ensures a comfortable living environment for students in University Housing. Performs emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive. Works in a diverse environment. Encourages, supports, and promotes diversity initiatives. Drives a UTA vehicle. Participates in the on-call program for before/after operating hours and weekends. Serves as essential personnel to the University and is required to report to work during campus emergencies and/or closures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
At least two (2) years of experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair work. This job requires a Texas class
