Wittenberg University is accepting applications for the position of HVAC Technician. This position is responsible for performing routine inspections, diagnostics, installation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration systems and equipment located in or on campus owned properties and facilities. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, working approximately 40 hours per week. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Inspect and maintain campus HVAC systems and equipment including but not limited to: boilers, steam systems, pumps, gas distribution systems, fans, electric and pneumatic control systems, valves and other related items.
Interpret and adhere to state and local HVAC codes and regulations.
Remove old HVAC equipment to prepare for installation of replacement systems.
Assemble, install, modify, repair, and test HVAC equipment as necessary.
Prior experience using work order systems required.
Competency and experience using Microsoft Office software preferred.
A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date.
Ability to respond to emergency calls related to HVAC systems when needed.
Physical demands include: Strength and mobility to work indoors and outdoors, and in an office or shop maintenance setting, including operating hand and power tools; stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing and working in confined or awkward spaces; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or phone. Work is subject to exposure to frequent local travel, extreme weather conditions, and noise.
