Sandia Preparatory School is seeking a qualified candidate to join the team as a Facilities Coordinator. This individual will be responsible for providing support to the administration, faculty, staff, and community in all areas to maintain secure and well-functioning buildings and grounds. The Facilities Coordinator will provide project support for facilities construction/maintenance projects and manage the custodial crew. Candidates for this position will have excellent communication skills, be well-organized, and proficient in project management and facilities management software. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with vendors, contractors, and all school departments is required.
Coordinate and maintain communication and cooperative working relationships with all administration, faculty, staff, students, and guests of Sandia Preparatory School.
Provide direction to the custodial crew for facilities maintenance and cleaning of the buildings and campus; work with vendors and departments in the upkeep of the grounds (inclusive of athletic fields).
Coordinate and help manage building and equipment maintenance schedules.
Support the planning and scheduling of daily work assignments.
Arrange schedule or regular maintenance of equipment and internal systems (e.g. heating system, cooling systems, buses, etc.).
Coordinate with external vendors. Conduct research and compare costs and benefits when evaluating new vendors.
Check classrooms, offices, devices, structures, and systems on a regular basis and identify needs for repairs.
Oversee the custodial crew to ensure that cleanliness standards are met daily.
Oversee planning and progress of regularly scheduled improvements.
Work with departments to coordinate transportation and scheduling for buses; manage the schedule of bus drivers.
Will be expected to monitor and adhere to the facilities budget.
Oversee construction improvement projects to ensure timeliness, costs, and quality of work; ensure that projects are on schedule and costs are managed appropriately.
Oversee compliance with health and safety regulations; ensure that all health and safety standards are met.
Demonstrated Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of industry practices for construction and maintenance for scheduling and all aspects of project management for the school.
Knowledge of building codes, laws, and regulations regarding school construction and repair.
Ability to schedule, manage, and direct employees in the completion of day-to-day work and long-term projects/assignments.
Ability to meet schedules and deadlines.
Ability to utilize work order and project management computer systems.
Ability to perform physical labor inclusive of lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and standing for an extended period.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work inclusive of vendors, contractors, school personnel, and members of the Prep community.
Experience and Requirements
Work experience as a Facilities Coordinator or similar role at a school.
Strong knowledge of facilities management operations.
Operation of a computer and basic computer software.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, building and grounds management.
Understanding of safety regulations in schools.
Sound judgment and the ability to think quickly during emergencies.
