Cordova Recreation & Park District is seeking a dedicated individual to join the Cordova Golf Course Maintenance team. Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Golf Course Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, inspection, modification, maintenance, and repair of golf course irrigation systems. The incumbent also performs a variety of skilled and specialized work in maintenance and operation of Cordova Golf Course; performing other greens keeper duties as required.
Essential Job Functions:
Inspect, repair, maintain and modify existing golf course irrigation system
Program and manage irrigation controllers
Operate manual quick couplers and hoses
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with field units that may include controllers, irrigation heads, valves and related systems
Operate trenching equipment; backhoe, front-end loader, breaker hammers, power cutters and other equipment used to dig irrigation line trenches
Repair multiple types of irrigation pipes such as PVC, galvanized, copper, steel and cement
Perform plumbing repairs such as installing and repairing drinking fountains, toilets and sinks
Order and stock irrigation parts and equipment
Routinely inspect irrigation and potable water system(s), mechanical equipment and other golf course facilities and equipment as required
Repair greens with seed and/or new grass plugs as needed
Grade and prepare soil base, lay sod and seed greens, tees and fairways
Assist with skilled, semi-skilled and manual labor as it pertains to landscaping, custodial and other crafts as required
Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in planning, assigning and coordinating the work of part-time employees and volunteer crews working in irrigation, maintenance, construction and repair work
Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized workspace, parts inventory room, pump station and service vehicle
Maintain accurate written records, reports and logs
Perform similar and incidental duties as assigned
Equivalent to graduation from high school or GED
Two (2) years of full-time professional experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of golf course irrigation
Experience in plumbing and pipefitting
Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to irrigation systems, including valves, controllers, pumps and pumping systems
Experience with large-scale landscape maintenance and installation projects
Basic understanding of agronomy and turf-grass science
Knowledge in the safe operation and calibration of the following: Pressurized spray equipment, hand-operated rotary spreaders, hand-operated drop spreaders, and mechanically operated utility tractors and spreaders
Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record
