Inspect, test, maintain, and repair all types of plumbing equipment/piping and Life Safety Equipment on the Health Sciences and West Research Campuses. The emphasis of this position will be on Life Safety Systems including Campus wide eyewash and eyewash/showers combination systems, medical gas systems (compressors, pumps, valves, monitoring, etc.), medical vacuum systems, dry and wet type fire sprinkler systems (pumps, sprinklers heads, control valves, gauges, air compressors, etc.), fire hydrants, fire suppression hood type systems, confined space monitors, remote medical gas monitoring systems and ultrapure water systems. Other duties as needed may include but not be limited to systems/equipment such as: various heating system types, backflow assemblies, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, domestic hot and cold water, and natural gas. This position will help establish, implement and conduct preventative maintenance programs that meet or exceed all OEM recommendations for systems and equipment, continually review issues pertaining to life safety/plumbing systems and utilization of equipment to maximize reliability and minimize impact to building occupants. Maintain record keeping for all systems and provide reports as required or requested. Facilities Services is a unit in the Campus Operations Division, which is a part of a broad, diverse division of Administration and Finance that includes all aspects of facilities management at East Carolina University. Facilities Services primary purpose is to plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance functions on all building structures and equipment and utility infrastructure. Corrective maintenance returns equipment to optimal design performance after failure or upon degradation from age, adverse operation conditions, etc. Preventive maintenance minimizes equipment failures and reduces corrective maintenance.
