Performs a variety of repairs and installations associated with the plumbing trade. Performs general maintenance duties as assigned.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Installs new plumbing fixtures where needed on special projects.
Repairs all types of piping systems including plastic, copper, steel, or cast iron.
Repairs broken or leaking plumbing fixtures.
Unstops plumbing fixtures and sewer lines.
Repairs and installs valves and other plumbing and steam specialty items.
Responds to general maintenance trouble calls as required or when not performing plumbing work.
Assists other maintenance personnel as required.
Cleans job area and puts tools in their proper place after job completion.
Orders tools, supplies, and equipment for general plumbing uses with approval from Supervisor.
Exemplifies excellent customer relations toward students, parents, visitors, and co-workers.
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge of standard practices, BOCA code. Methods, tools and equipment of the plumbing trade. Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the plumbing trade.
Skilled in the use of tools and equipment, in working from sketches and specifications and in observing safety precautions. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Required Qualifications
Education and experience equivalent to:
High school diploma or equivalent; Vocational training or 2 years full time certification course in the field of plumbing or 4 year apprentice program preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of plumbing maintenance, preferable after having met educational requirements, and preferable institutional experience.
Must have a State of Missouri Class E or above drivers license or the equivalent from another state prior to employment.
24-hour availability for emergencies and willingness to work overtime.

Hours differ dependent upon position.
This position requires physical work including bending and standing for long periods of time, ladders, and heights, lifting up to 75 pounds, using heavy equipment and traveling to on- and off-campus locations.
This position may be exposed to labs, animal areas, loud noise, chemicals, and temperatures based on weather.
