The Building Systems - HVAC Specialist 1 ensures the effective, safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations of mechanical systems and equipment, building controls, and utilities. This includes providing quality indoor air and a comfortable environment for Facilities Operations and Development at The Ohio State University.
Key Responsibilities:
Build automation operational oversight.
Daily operation and management of mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems and components.
Assess and resolve issues with controls, and building automation. write and install programs that resolve HVAC-related issues.
Manage and participate in the equipment commissioning process.
Develop and monitor energy-saving processes as well as optimize and maintain the operation of the various HVAC systems throughout campus.
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
12 months or 1,200 hours of training in mechanical, pneumatic, and HVAC technology, and six (6) months or 600 hours of training in programming and electrical circuitry.
Considerable knowledge of computers, digital controls, electronic and safety practices, HVAC and pneumatic technology, and reading blueprints.
Skill in operating shop equipment, power tools, and pneumatic controls.
Ability to work independently on many tasks, and cooperate with other personnel on group projects.
Ability to routinely lift moderate to heavy (20 to 100 lb.) equipment.
Ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages and read and write common vocabulary.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, including an MVR.
