The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Facilities Management Department is seeking an outgoing motivated person to join our staff.
Duties Include:
1. Responsible for performing routine maintenance of Commercial Kitchen, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. 2. Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits. 3. Independently overhaul small reciprocal compressors, and larger reciprocal, absorption, and centrifugal compressors. 4. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. 5. Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Minimum Experience / Education:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
1. High school diploma or GED Equivalency. 2. Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Commercial Kitchen, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment preferred. 3. Proven track record in facilities preferred. 4. EPA 608 Refrigerant certification preferred. 5. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required. 6. Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. 7. Computer literate. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 8. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds. 9. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. 10. Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
