The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a FM Mechanical Trades Technician for the Facilities Management Department. This is a full-time, permanent staff position.
Purpose of the Position: The role of a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades) involves carrying out general maintenance tasks. They may also have the chance to learn another trade discipline. The shop they are assigned to may require them to perform tasks such as installing, repairing, maintaining, and constructing facility components.
Salary: $33,390 - $39,000
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Essential Job Duties: Responsible for performing routine maintenance of plumbing systems to ensure that building systems are operating efficiently. Assist in diagnosing mechanical problems and determining how to resolve the issue. Responsible for completing all preventative maintenance assigned. Other Work Responsibilities: Performs as a contributing worker and assists other facility maintenance technicians. Work with supervision or instruction, and complete work with competence and professionalism in compliance with generally accepted trade practices. Communicate effectively with customers, and managers, and provide high-quality customer service based on university policy and procedures. Record daily activities in an order tracking system (Archibus). Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.
Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Equivalency. The potential to develop proficiency in technology. Basic experience in plumbing/mechanical trade. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension). Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. Possess the necessary skills to navigate and utilize Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds.
