Building/Facilities Coordinator V- CVM

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is seeking a dynamic and passionate Building/Facilities Coordinator V, to join the Office of Facilities Administration.
Our team provides leadership and central staff expertise to the faculty, staff, and executive leadership of the CVM in a proactive, customer-oriented, value-added manner and supports the facility consisting of 116 buildings (approximately one million square feet).
In this role, you will serve as one of two primary Facilities Coordinators to support CVM Administration, consistently providing excellent customer service in all aspects of the position.
Specifically, you will:
- Act as Unit Facilities Representative in accordance with Zone structure; support and advance University Zone structure.
- Assist in the planning, management, modification, and use of existing facilities as requested by the Director of Facilities and the Manager of Facilities Operations.
- In a timely manner and proactively attend to routine and emergency maintenance issues related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.Prioritize and coordinate maintenance and repairs with College Departments and with Facilities Services Zone Trades through the work order system(Maximo).
- Coordinate small maintenance projects.
- Monitor various issues related to safety, security, the general use of facilities, and operating and maintaining the College's physical facilities.
- In a timely and professional manner, coordinate, manage, and perform table and chair set up and take down upon request for college-wide events for CVM. Coordinating facility issues related to college-wide events (Open House, Commencement, Alumni Weekend, Conferences, etc.).Coordinate and perform furniture moves for minor renovation projects within the CVM.
- Provide primary backup to college receiving and mailing services, and assist with managing voice and data communications for CVM Administration and college renovation projects. Provide primary backup for the college card access system.
Weekends and off hours will be required at times.
Minimum Qualifications and requirements:
- Associate's degree with 2-4 years of experience in closely related facilities maintenance work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with construction and blueprint interpretation.
- Strong customer service skills, including ability to communicate, clearly, openly, and professionally with a wide variety of clientele as well as the ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, have strong priority-setting and time management skills and be able to work as a part of a team.
- Must be proactive and possess the ability to handle several contending priorities in a demanding office environment.
- Must be able to make timely decisions related to building infrastructure problems.
- Qualified information technology skills (MS Office Suite, Excel, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Building Automation Systems, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity or propensity to learn software like Maximo, FPNMS, KMS, AutoCAD, Excel, etc..
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. NYS building Code certification.
- Experience in higher education, research, and teaching hospital settings.
