Construction & Building Maintenance Technician Position allows for any location in MN : 75-90% daily travel in MN, ND & WI, some overnight

We are seeking a Construction & Building Maintenance Technicianto provide building maintenance, general utility and light and heavy construction services for the GRE buildings and staff.
Makes necessary repairs to field services facilities including substation and communication sites, and equipment as directed by supervisor.
Provides construction services for GRE projects including, but not limited to floor tile installation, floor repair, painting, re-roofing, , substation fence repair, trenwa trench lid and sidewall replacement, mounting equipment, and concrete project support.
Identifies work scope and design for maintenance and construction work.
Provides first response directly field service substations and communication sites.
Recommends selection of service vendors to manager, facilities services.
Performs other related miscellaneous duties (including grounds keeping activities such as snow removal, yard grading, culvert cleaning, lawn maintenance and custodial services) as required.
Performs routine checks on buildings including, but not limited to, oiling locks, sweeping floors, caulking, and emptying trash as required.
Perform routine inspections and abatement services of pests.
Provides input, coordination of work and inspection of the job performance of outside contractor and crew(s) in the maintenance of GRE grounds, and transmission sites. This includes lawn care, trimming shrubs, maintaining sprinkler system, arranging for snow removal, parking lot maintenance and concrete repair, pest control, door maintenance, roofing and building envelope maintenance and repair, fencing, and general maintenance.
Provides communication updates to leader on all projects.
Education & Experience: Knowledge typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years of experience in construction; including reading blueprints, roofing and building envelope maintenance and repair, fencing and small concrete projects; dock activities; and building maintenance; including office remodeling, plumbing and overhead and other door maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Skilled in fork truck operation, hand tools; power tools.
Knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules.
Ability to operate forklifts, boom trucks, bobcats, front end loaders and other construction equipment.
Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Must be skilled in building maintenance for repairs and be experienced with construction projects and processes.
Must be able to handle multiple priorities, work independently, read blueprints and prioritize multiple requests.
Must possess the ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel 75- 90%, with some overnight, to various locations throughout the service territory in MN, ND and WI.
Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following GRE safety rules, certifications and procedures.
Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification of potential incidents.
Working conditions will be indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions of extreme cold or heat. Travel 75- 90%, with some overnight, to various locations throughout the service territory in MN, ND and WI. Conditions in the plant and facility grounds may include extreme temperatures, noise levels, and heights. This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 20-50 pounds frequently and lifting 51-75 pounds occasionally. The ability to climb, balance, work at heights and work with arms above your head occasionally up to frequently. Ability to occasionally up to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and squat, work on even and uneven surfaces and ability to work occasionally in confined space areas. Ability to frequently push, pull, carry, grasp and finger objects. Subject to frequent vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to fumes, dust or mist. Must be able to differentiate colors, speak and hear.
