Professor of Practice – Building Energy and Indoor Environmental Systems

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department (MAE) at Syracuse University is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track Professor of Practice in Building Energy and Indoor Environmental Systems beginning as early as Spring 2023.
Successful candidates should have a demonstrated track record in the area of building energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality. Responsibilities include piloting a Building Assessment Center for commercial and residential buildings as well as teaching and professional activity related to the energy efficiency of buildings and to their indoor environment. The Building Assessment Center's primary responsibility will be to provide students with direct experience in the evaluation of energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality in existing buildings and conduct applied research in building performance monitoring, modeling, analysis, design, and control. The new Center will work closely with the established Industrial Assessment Center at Syracuse University which focuses on the energy efficiency of industrial buildings.
The successful candidate will teach related courses such as HVAC Analysis and Design, Building Environmental Measurement and Control, Building Energy and Environmental Modeling and Simulations and have the opportunity to collaborate with the School of Architecture faculty in teaching Advanced Building Systems or Interdisciplinary Design Studio courses. They will also apply subject matter expertise in support of research activities in the Building Assessment Center, including contributing to research proposals for sponsored projects.
The position is associated with the New York State Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems at Syracuse University. The position is not on the tenure track. The position will be offered for an initial period of two years and is renewable.
