Department Description
Student Housing and Dining Services (SHDS) is a self-supporting auxiliary that provides housing and dining services to approximately 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and students with families who live in on-campus residential facilities (university owned/managed and Public-Private-Partnerships), as well as providing residential, retail and catering dining services for the campus community. Responsibilities
Under direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor-Housing, Dining and Divisional Operations, provides leadership, planning and management for Facilities Services, one of six units in Student Housing and Dining Services (SHDS). Responsibilities include oversight of Capital Planning/Project Management, Major Maintenance project planning, Residence Hall Operational Maintenance, Dining Facility Operational Maintenance, Operational logistics, Custodial Services, and Interior Design Services. Account Manager responsibilities require following campus policies and practices to ensure transactions are reviewed, processed in a timely fashion, and meet budget expectations. Oversees a budget of $27 million, manages a portfolio of 100 buildings totaling ~2M gsf, and provides direct supervision to six assistant directors, contributes to long-range strategic planning for the department, overall coordination of all SHDS operations and represents the department on various Student Affairs and campus-wide committees This position will work closely with campus departments such as Design and Construction Management, Capital and Space Planning, Grounds, Safety Services, Building Maintenance Services, Custodial, Utilities, Purchasing, etc.
Five or more years of progressively responsible experience working within residential or commercial facilities, which includes large building Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing systems, Asset Management Systems and Direct Digital Controls.
Experience supervising multiple trade staff including selecting, training, motivating and providing corrective action up to and including dismissal. Leadership to mentor and develop professional staff.
Experience in budget management and leadership, including accounting principles, organizational structures, cost forecasting, and decision-making.
Technical experience of construction and maintenance of building elements and systems to review and understand technical data, mechanical and structural specifications, construction submittals, building plans, building codes, safety regulations and craft terminology.
Experience with computer software programs such as word-processing, Asset Management Systems, spreadsheets, and database management programs. Computer skills to manage various computer and database systems.
Experience writing a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, agreements, training documents, and performance evaluations. Oral and written communication skills and professional presence with the ability to represent Student Housing and the University both internally and externally.
Operational knowledge of facility operations, safety & security procedures, emergency preparedness, sustainable operations, and USGBC LEED rating system.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience overseeing customer service, quality control and establishing high quality standards for residential facilities.

Ability to facilitate and collaborate with various internal and external constituencies on strategic short- and long-term facilities planning, management and building construction.
Thorough knowledge of industry best practices.
Special Requirements
May be required to work non-standard work week, including both days of weekend; occasional overtime required. May be asked to work during UC or National holidays.
Vacation usage may be limited during peak workload periods.
