Job Summary: | The Trades Supervisor oversees building changes and projects as well as a team of trades positions. The team is made up of a carpenter, facility technicians, an electrician, painters, and HVAC mechanics. This team is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our buildings and equipment. Duties also include Project management, Customer service, Communication, Technical engineering, Decision making, Problem solving, IT, Leadership, and Professionalism. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all equipment and multiple facilities used by the Union. |
Responsibilities: | Develops maintenance standards, coordinates maintenance and remodeling projects, monitors project plans, inspects work, and supervises personnel to ensure compliance with project timeline, plans, and safety regulations. - 25% Develops, directs, executes, and monitors operational work plans for a designated unit or affiliated projects to ensure compliance with plan regulations and timelines
- 25% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- 20% Monitors the work unit or project budget and approves expenditures
- 20% Serves as the unit liaison to internal stakeholder groups providing organizational information to align project objectives with overall strategic plans and initiatives
- 10% Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational plans and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with general construction and maintenance practices

Additional Information: | The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus, Memorial Union and Union South. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.
