The shops are responsible for preventative maintenance according to their expertise and keep all operating systems in good repair; make the campus a comfortable, safe, and attractive place to learn, live, work, and recreate; respond quickly to the emergency maintenance and repair needs of the campus community.
The Technical Trades Manager is responsible for managing a skilled group of represented employees and supervising outside contractors who perform repairs and mechanical maintenance across our large and vibrant campus. The Manager utilizes a CMMS work order system to schedule, track, and report on service requests and develop, administer budgets, schedules, and standards of performance for maintenance.
As a member of the Facilities Division staff, this position is deemed "essential" and must remain or report to work during partial or full day closings of the University due to hazardous road conditions, emergency circumstances or for other reasons. The ability to work overtime when needed is required.

Responsibilities Include:
Ensure all building HVAC mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, and 2nd shift coverage are well maintained and are operated in a manner which reflects the excellence of the University
Direct the maintenance, operations and updating of these systems in all 102 campus buildings plus campus utility systems which include electrical, geothermal, water, natural gas, storm and sewer drainage systems
Manage four forepersons and their direct report mechanics
Manage an operating budget of $600,000
Defer maintenance project management
Implement and direct programs to ensure effective and efficient operation of related shops and promotes steady incremental improvement
Apply knowledge of building automation systems and how to use as a tool in HVAC maintenance
Respond immediately to emergencies during both normal and off duty hours to ensure safe and timely operations to cover University commitments
Serve on an on-call rotation with facility managers
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of an Associate degree program at a college or trade school OR
A minimum of 7 years of mechanical maintenance leadership experience in management including 5 years of experience with budget and personnel management and 5 years of experience with Mechanical /Electric Maintenance Supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Experience maintenance and operations work oversight, coordinating, or facilitating work necessary to maintain or upgrade facilities and infrastructure of various types while operating at the budget provided.
Experience managing maintenance and operations work including building automation, building system and mechanical repairs.
Experience successfully managing budgets and contracts
A mechanical trade license.
Experience directly supervising a unionized workforce
Experience with CMMS

The salary range for this position is $69,716 to $79,675.
