Position Purpose:

Repairs equipment and performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanical systems in support of a formal preventive maintenance program; and performs incidental work of a semi-skilled nature in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
This position is considered essential. Personnel may be required to respond to campus emergencies both during and off shift.
Job Qualifications & Competencies
A high school diploma or GED and two years of full-time experience working at a semi-skilled level maintaining and repairing building HVAC equipment; or a combination of similar education and experience. Â Graduation from an HVAC or refrigeration mechanics program from a trade or technical school may substitute for one year of experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operatorâ™s license.
Must maintain required license(s) as a condition of employment
Working knowledge of basic HVAC systems and operating principles.
Knowledge and skill in the performance of basic plumbing, electrical and hydronic heating system maintenance and repair.
Ability to follow simple written instructions and understand blueprints or schematic drawings.
Ability to follow protocols and effectively meet and interact with members of the University community.
Objective bench test and/or field test will be required
Must possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
Additional physical demands and working conditions:
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted; and to walk throughout the campus and climb stairs for the duration of the shift.
Ability to work from ladders, staging and scaffolding and to operate lifts as required.
May be required to have the ability to work in areas needing a respiratorÂ

General responsibilities include responding, evaluating, and executing electronic service requests and maintenance repair work orders including entering accurate records of work performed and materials used into FMâ™s computerized maintenance management software using mobile technology devices.  This position requires the ability to use a computer, laptop, or mobile device comfortably.
