POSITION OVERVIEW This position exists to operate to maintain and provide repair for the physical plant, campus equipment, and vehicles at Dunwoody College of Technology.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment with safety and economical operation.
Maintain lock systems for the security of all buildings and rooms of the campus.
Maintain all vehicles of the campus.
Maintains the work order system as it relates to assigning work to student workers and facilities, complete and process work orders as need it, prioritizes work orders, analyze, complete and process work orders based on needs and viability of request in communication with the requestor or affected individuals.
Operate and maintain the college plumbing system.
Assist with and perform carpentry related work throughout campus.
Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and participate in mandatory training, testing, and certification. Comply with departmental safety policy.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Coordinates daily work direction to student workers
Coordinates daily work direction for outsourced cleaning team.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and skills in methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in trades work sufficient to assist skilled trade’s people in completion of assigned projects
Ability to perform semi-skilled trades work sufficient to complete minor trades plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and/or electrical systems and equipment
Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment including the general maintenance and repairs of buildings
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions sufficient to interpret and carry out assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
Skilled in using hand and power tools and other trades equipment.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
Physical health and endurance sufficient to use hand tools and handle fairly light materials manually, to perform work functions using ladders and scaffolding, to function in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., lifting, standing, stooping, and pulling.
Ability to work in tight/close spaces and overhead and perform work at various heights.
Ability to work 40 hours a week, occasionally evenings and weekends to cover emergency calls or unforeseen after hours events of the college.
