The primary purpose of the Maintenance & Operations Assistant Supervisor is to provide supervision and direction to the second and third shift custodial workers and perform maintenance and grounds work as needed.

Supervise and oversee second and third shift staff, which includes; managing day to day operations and activities; prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are properly trained; ensuring staff are following all KCTCS policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment; making hiring, firing and disciplinary recommendations.
Perform day to day maintenance tasks as required to include: plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, carpentry, and HVAC repairs. Move furniture, supplies and materials as needed. Evaluate roofs, buildings and equipment and relay findings to Maintenance and Operations Director.
Perform any and all grounds related tasks associated with the upkeep and maintenance of a 65-acre campus; to include; mowing, planting, weeding, flower bed maintenance, trimming trees and shrubs, as well as snow and ice removal during winter months.
Provide assistance to other college department during special events, either on campus or off campus, to include; setup and take downs as requested; transport supplies, tables and materials as needed.
Update director on supplies needed or fleet management.
Participate in trainings and safety workshops as needed.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High school/GED, and six years related experience, or equivalent.
Ability to supervise and make decisions; two years of supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of safety and OSHA requirements.
Special skills or abilities that are important to this position: Plumbing, masonry, electrical, and painting.
