Job Description: Roxbury Community College's Center for Smart Building Technology invites qualified Building Performance instructors to provide classroom instruction in RCC's new Smart Building Technology (SBT) degree program. The SBT program covers a broad range of subject areas including heat and insulation, air and air sealing, moisture control, mechanical systems, conservation strategies, and the U.S. DOE home energy scoring system.
The Building Automation Fundamentals course provides an introduction to the fundamental building blocks of a building automation system. Students will learn essential terminology, the basic components of a Building Automation System (BAS), an introduction to system architecture, communication protocols and networking, fundamental control strategies for various types of HVAC equipment and basic building diagnostics.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and distribute syllabi which inform students about course requirements, grading requirements, testing assignments, attendance policy, and other information for each course assigned.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assignments and examinations in a timely manner to inform students about their progress. Encourage use of support services by students.
- Collaborate with support services staff to ensure that information is being shared and discussed.
- Follow procedures related to the Registrar's office, including grade reports and deadlines; attendance record reports; withdrawal deadlines; class changes; and time and room scheduling.
Job Requirements:- Teaching experience in higher education (community college experience is preferred). Experience with, and a desire to use, instructional technology.
- Three or more years experience providing instruction to working professionals in the field of residential building energy management, facility management, building engineering, operations and maintenance, or a closely related field.
- Two or more years employment in the field or industry related to the training topic(s) for which the applicant is seeking qualification (e.g., HVAC systems, electrical systems, indoor air quality, etc.).
- A master's degree in a related field.
- Familiarity with state and local codes and standards.
